QUARTETO VIVACE BRASIL, founded in 2008, is one of the most exciting new groups on the Brazilian musical scene. Four master players on two guitars, percussion and flute bring sizzling energy to Brazilian sambas and chôros, Argentinian tangos, American ragtime, and arrangements of favorite classics from Bach to Bizet’s Carmen to Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Säens.
Brazilian-born artist/flutist Tadeu Coelho joined the University North Carolina School of the Arts in 2002. He has taught at the University of Iowa and at the University of New Mexico as well as being a visiting professor at the Ino Mirkovich Music Academy in Croatia. Mr. Coelho frequently appears as soloist, chamber musician, and master clinician throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Americas. He has performed as first solo flutist of the Santa Fe Symphony, Hofer Symphoniker in Germany, and the Spoletto Festival Orchestra in Italy, among others, including guest appearances with the Boston Symphony in the summer of 1996.
Edson Lopes is a graduate of the "Dr. Carlos de Campos" Music Conservatory, Tatuí, Brazil, and of the London Trinity College of Music. A sought after performer, Mr. Lopes has led a busy schedule with appearances throughout Brazil in solo, duo, and trio appearances, as well as performed concertos with orchestra. As a former member of the Brazilian Guitar Quartet, Mr. Lopes has toured the US performing in Houston, Dallas, Austin, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Albuquerque, Hollywood, Indianapolis, Washington DC, and New York among others. Edson Lopes also performed in Hong Kong at the 33rd Arts Festival, in Monterey, Mexico, at the VII International Guitar Festival, and in Denmark, at the V International Guitar Festival in the city of Aarhus.
Roberto Colchiesqui started his guitar studies at the Tatuí Conservatory in 1979 under Francisco Araújo. In 1984 Mr. Colchiesqui did advanced guitar studies with Edson Lopes, and together formed a guitar duo. As a recording artist, Roberto Colchiesqui has released two CDs for the Novo Tempo label titled “Prelúdio” and “Violão de Louvor.” Mr. Colchiesqui has appeared in concerts and recitals in the South of Brazil, sponsored by the Music Initiatives of the São Paulo state government.
Rodrigo Marinonio studied classical percussion at the Tatuí Conservatory under Luiz Caldana e Agnaldo Silva, before entering Jazz & Popular music department as a student of Rui Carvalho and José Carlos da Silva. Graduating in 1998 with a degree in Jazz & Popular Music, Mr. Marinonio moved to Denmark where he works as a freelance musician. In Denmark, Mr. Marinonio performs at the Copenhague Jazz festivals among others. Returning to Brazil, Rodrigo Marinonio performed with notable Brazilian artists such as Altamiro Carrilho, Hector Costita, Francis Hime, Leila Pinheiro e Dori Caymmi.
